so much for at least once a week update, eh? it's been more than a fortnight since the last post.
the reason behind that? not so much the work. but it is related to the fact that now i'm employed. the reason was mainly, and that's the only reason actually, because i volunteered myself to be playing Lawn Bowls for PNB team to play in the inter-subsidiary games. and with that, came the responsibility to attend training every other day, or in our case, every other evening right after work.
and that took a lot of my time. right after work (we got to leave at 4 instead of 5pm), we were transported to some deserted place near Pandamaran, Klang, to practise. would usually reach there around 5-something, play at 6, until we were bored or tired of throwing another bowl, usually after around 3 hours, including Maghrib rest. and then we were driven back home, arriving around 11. with coming to work the next day in mind.
the game was last weekend. we won all our group games, including a nail-biting 6-4 win against a more experienced (every team was more experienced than us 1-month-old noobs) UMW team. but we crumbled on pressure to title holder and eventual champion, team Maybank, in the quarters, losing terribly. the girls team made it one step higher than us, so congratulations to them.
apart from the lawn bowls, everything else was quite 'normal', for now. the last week was very entertaining, in that our classes were about presentation skills. those who have seen me talking to a crowd, no matter how small or large, will know that this is my one cryptonite. so to have around 1 week to learn valuable tips about this topic and then to put it into practice is something that i thoroughly enjoyed.
the instructor said that i definitely improved a lot after those 5 days, although there are still rooms for improvement. i'm now game for more chances to do presentations!
as for things other than that, perhaps there wasn't that many. there was that one day off for Deepavali, but that's just more time spent with family, as we all went for a short vacation to PD, after which i got back home with a terrible fever.
oh, and the weekend before that, i ran for another quarter-marathon (10km), the Putrajaya Night Run. the time was 1hour and 6 minutes, a good 4 minutes slower than my time at adidas King of the Road. i have a few excuses for that, but at least my ranking was quite satisfactory. and the main thing is, to run two 10km runs in a space of 2 weeks, in respectable times (faster than my brothers)... not bad, for someone who always managed to skip from participating in mini marathon during A-Levels.
i haven't registered for another run. that will have to wait until i got back my stamina. which is severely lacking especially after that training stint for lawn bowls.
those are the 'boring' updates. something more 'substantial' will be coming later, when i have the mood. quite sleepy right now..
till then!
