Hijrah itu pengorbanan.

now this post can be very very cliched. dalam BM-nye, klise. so please bear with me.

it was the eve of Hijri New Year. after a very long day, in which i drove my parents to Batu Pahat and back home in the same day, i decided that i'll just stay at home for the evening, instead of looking for buddies to hang out for the night.

at Batu Pahat, where we attended a distant cousin's wedding, my dad's aunt (in the family tree. but she's more like my aunt actually) reminded me to switch on the radio to listen to End of Year + New Year do'a recitation, because we were supposed to still be on the road driving back. turned out we reached home earlier than that. and i completely forgot about it. until maghrib. too late.

then it was Isya'. mom wanted to pray earlier, when it was already time. so we did. and then after that, i went back up to the living area, and switched on the tv.

there's the early kick-off of Stoke vs Blackburn, and something else that are less interesting. mom told me to watch Majalah 3, which was doing a coverage on Uzbekistan, where my parents visited a few months ago. but somehow, after browsing thru the channels (Man Utd match wasn't until 11pm) i decided that i'll watch ch.114 instead.

i think it was because i missed the doa akhir tahun awal tahun thingy, so when i saw that the channel was showing "Malam Hijrah Bersama", i decided that okay this could, in a way, be a sub for what i missed earlier. but i would never have thought that i would stay hooked to that show until it ended, 90 minutes later.

and here's the cliche part. the show was all about hijrah, in tandem with New Year eve. and i was like, am i now doing my 'hijrah'? like, from watching crap shows on tv, to watching ch.114? (although, to be fair, i don't really watch TVs, except to watch sports, and House). but i really got hooked to the show. and they were talking about hijrah, where mostly they were talking about the Converts. about how they do their own big hijrah.

there were a few cases highlighted in the 1 1/2 hour show, as well documented by this particular blog (http://amirnawawi.com/malam-hijrah-bersama-tvalhijrah/). however, nak taknak, one of the stories caught my attention the most than the rest of them. it's the story about how two girls were shown the 'light' to The Path. and it's doubly interesting how one of them, miss LJY, is...

... then i wrote on my facebook about celebrity crush. and the rest is history, as they said.

no actually, her case is really interesting. she was a devoted Christian, and she did research on comparative religions. and that's how she concluded that Islam is the truth. and then there were stories about how she gained supports... but i don't really buy into that. but the way she was looking for it... that's really inspiring. truly merit the slot in the show about hijrah. it truly reflects the spirit of hijrah.

and then there's the more 'interesting' part, in that her dream is to become a movie director. i mean... i dunno. if you see the video shots from the blog, you can see that her fashion sense is quite... chic? she's got style, basically. and to have a dream that's related to show-business, for someone who converted because she was convinced by her research and studies that Islam is the truth...

okay so the movie that she wants to direct is about people who convert/revert to Islam, stories about that. and she has first hand experience, so she would be the perfect candidate to direct such film. but it's just that, to go into showbusiness from something like that... i dunno. and she's well into that path, because TV Al-Hijrah (astro ch.114) has actually offered her a spot in their organization, and she's actually given her own show! (coming very soon, "tinjau pasar" or something. she has two actually, another one is "4 Hidayah 4 Hijrah", although that's more like a show about her -and 3 others-, and not her own tv show)

and the ultimate reason all those are very interesting, which i can relate to, is because... my dream is also to go into showbiz. so we actually share the same dream (gosh i can't believe this was written almost a year ago)... altho she's already in it.

and THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why i now have a celebrity crush on someone who is in TV Al-Hijrah. the name is LJY. and isn't she.. :D

glam la pulak kan...

on the bigger theme of this post, about Hijrah... i haven't really thought about it thoroughly, but the first thing that came to my mind, is to be healthy. to slim down. to lose fat. and also to be a better son, employee, and friend.

and ultimately, to be a better 'abid.

Salam Ma'al Hijrah 1433H everyone.
