Dream: Realized... partially.

so finally training, at least those in classrooms, is over. i'm now on a different kind of training, that is a (relatively) shorter rotation. relative because the usual period for our rotation at any one department is around 2 weeks or more. i have just started my 'temporary placement', for the next 7 working days.

basically this is the prelude to the real life. whereas the previous 1+ month was (not) quite a transition period between student life and working life... it was a combo in fact: i go to a workplace, during office hours, but instead of doing 'real' work, i was attending classes, like any student. but now it's almost real. i'm now stationed -temporarily- at a department. Research Department, to be exact. and i'm now already given a task to be completed.

deadlines!!!

but quite contrary to what i thought it would be, some things don't differ much from what they were before. okay so we're now separated into smaller groups of 3 to 5 people from the original 26 in the group. and we're in departments with real staff and employees and even some management people, instead of being with fellow friends and trainers. but in terms of working hour, so far, it's still 8 to 5.

in fact, for the past few days, i've even added some new things to do right after work: i played basketball at Wangsa Melawati until dawn, and today we played badminton at pnb's sports 'complex'. once i stop with my gym membership, i think i'll do my routine running there at the gym inside our building. there are other games there as well, such as squash and table tennis, so that's another plus.

but of course this is just one department. things could be very different in other departments that we're going to be placed in, be it temporarily during this rotation period, or permanently after our final presentation. fellow 5th floor dwellers in IFM are going back only slightly later than me, although they have to bring back their work if they want to do that. no one is at IO thus far, but i'm sure that's not going to be easy.

people in the CEO's office are in for a hard time, eventhough they're only there for a very short time. apparently they were 'handpicked', unlike the rest of us. honestly, i was a bit 'down' by the fact that i'm not one of them, though i can't really pinpoint the reason why... could it be that i'm very kiasu?

or it could be that i have thought about the idea of going into Islamic Project, a unit under the President's Office. possible. but i don't think that's the main reason why. it must be the kiasu me. why?

because, all this while, i have, rather flexibly i have to also add, set my heart on Product Development, under ASNB. or any other department or subsidiaries that have anything to do with that field. yes i actually am quite open about where i'm going to be placed later, for fear of being terribly disappointed in case i do not get what i want. but if i were asked to choose, going to CEO's Office would not be my first choice.

but of course all these are just my personal views, that are not supported by any facts whatsoever. it's just based on what i think is my preference. that's why we have this rotation program, so that all of us can experience ourselves the real situation in any departments (but with the exception of CEO's office, which is not included in the rotation schedule). i may think that i don't want to go to IO right now, because of some things that i heard of, and some assumptions i assumed, but that may very well change once i was posted there to get the feel myself.

or it may not.

i think it's better to just go with the flow, as for now. but without losing my bearing on what i would like to do. or i THINK i would love to do. in the meantime, i would not worry much about anything. if there's anything to be concerned about, it's about how i should do my financial planning.for the next few months. or years even.

until my next post. i actually wanted to write about the different departments. but i'm not sure how much can i write about. so i'll figure that one out, and then i'll let you know anything that i can let you know.

wish me luck at Research Department.
