nice kicks

so i was listening to Pumped Up Kicks on the radio this morning, and tried singing along to the song. the chorus is easy, but the rest is quite a blur to me.

so i was wondering, what is this song all about? what is pumped up kicks? i know kicks are a reference to sneakers, and pumped up would mean something... cool? but what's the whole song about?

so i googled. and wiki-ed. the results are scary. it's a very dark, emo song, lyric-wise. but tune-wise, of course it's all bubbly and cheery. the MTV too, seems all happy. he's a genius, the lead man, to be able to compose such misleading song.
